Fredericia's best beach

Østerstand is Fredericia's largest beach and several times nominated for Denmark's Best Beach.

The beach facility, which lies along the Little Belt, is a recreational oasis and has everything you need for the perfect excursion. The beach is laid out as a wide sandy beach with good bathing opportunities from the water's edge or from the large circular bridge in the middle of the beach.

Facilities at the city beach Østerstrand

Østerstrand is a family-friendly beach with good toilet and changing facilities. There is always access to toilets and bathrooms. In the toilet building there is also a family changing room with a bathroom. 

The beach area is landscaped with paths and numerous options for staying along the beach. There are several different seating and lying options and long tables that can be used by beach guests. Several of the long tables are equipped with a stone coating, so it is safe to use disposable grills.

Along the beach there are also several built-in fire pits for free use.

Disabled-friendly beach in Fredericia

Østerstrand is a handicap-friendly beach. The beach is paved with handicap-friendly paving, and along the beach there are table-bench sets with special wheelchair space at the table. In the toilet building there is a family changing room with bathing facilities and a disabled toilet that is accessible to wheelchair users.

Østerstrand offers several options for bathers with disabilities. On the beach is the bathing facility Havfreufløjterne, a facility for bathers with visual impairments and others who want particularly safe bathing frames.

It is also possible to borrow a WaterWheel wheelchair (bathing wheelchair) on Østerstrand. The key to the bathing wheelchair can be borrowed on request in the beach café. More information about the bathing wheelchair can be found here !

Blue Flag and lifeguard patrol

Østerstrand is one blue-flag beach. During the summer holidays, you will also find Trygfonden's lifeguard tower and trained lifeguards on the beach. You can ask them for advice and get more information about bathing conditions.

Activities on the beach

In addition to being a bathing beach, Østerstrand is also an activity area where there are opportunities for physical exercise.

Østerstrand's beach café

After a trip in the wave blue, you can settle down at the beach cafe Urbania Beach Bar and enjoy delicious food and drink. 

Close to the city center and history

Østerstrand is just a short walk from Fredericia's cozy pedestrian streets. Here you will find good shopping opportunities, restaurants and activities for the whole family. In extension of Østerstrand is also Fredericia Vold, one of Northern Europe's oldest and most well-preserved ramparts.

You can therefore easily combine a trip to the beach with restaurant visits, shopping and a walk Fredericia Vold.

Nature Park Lillebælt regularly holds beach fun on Østerstrand and other exciting excursions and activities.

Parking

There are several parking options near Østerstand. There is a small area on the beach itself where it is possible to park for a fee. There is also disabled parking here. There is free parking along Østervoldgade, from where it is only a minute's walk to the beach area.

It is not permitted to park on the grassy areas at Fredericia's Voldanläg.
