Nordstjernen - Fredericia's oldest house

Distance: 0.62 Km

The North Star is Fredericia's oldest house.

In 1650, the same year as Fredericia was founded by King Frederik the 3rd, breeding farmer Mads Sørensen built one of the very first houses in the city. The house is located in Kongensgade 25. The street was the city's most fashionable at the time. Both town hall, Latin school, rectory and several fashionable homes were located in Kongensgade.

Architect Morten Røjel bought the dilapidated house in 1975 for a symbolic amount. He undertook a huge renovation work with the aim of bringing the house back to the original. The smallest detail was reduced - and a number of volunteers also contributed labor.

After 10 years of hard work, the North Star appeared beautiful and beautiful as it does today.
